Two or three years ago on a road trip I stopped in a little antique store. I saw this poor Primus No.2 stove sitting on a shelf wearing this stupid lamp shade and trailing an electrical cord. Since No.2s are pretty scarce this side of the pond I took it with me. Luckily the butcher had only drilled the burner, not the fount, so it was salvageable. I finally got around to getting a burner and cleaning it up. I would have liked to left the patina as it had a nice look, but the pot stands were very rusted and the burner was brand new. I have another well polished No.2 . When I got this one cleaned up it was apparent the idiot with the drill had also wire wheeled the fount so it's never going to polish up. I'll leave it untreated and allow it to darken over time. The code on the bottom of the tank dates this stove to 1935.
