I have just cleaned and tested a recent aquisition, a Burmos touring stove. I have it working well apart fom the fact that there is a lot of resistance on the pump when pulling the pump rod out. The pump leather is a snug fit. What is the most likely problem? Thanks in advance. Ray.
Ray, I will defer to some of the real experts here but it seems to me that the pump tube must draw air in around the pump leather on the out stroke. The air has to come from outside the tube or you would be sucking fuel in from the NRV. If that is correct, perhaps your pump leather is too big (wrong size?).
You've probably got it right Sparky. The other thing it could be is there is no space between the pump shaft and the retaining washer for the pump leather. The pump leather within the confines of the retainer and nut should move freely to allow air into the tube on the up stroke. sam
I have just reduced the outside diameter of the pump leather with a few strokes of abraisive paper and it now works a treat, I have also undone and re-assembled the nut and washer so thank you for both ideas one or both of them worked. Ray.
