    Good Morning, Lynn,

My Friend, this last post from you was flat-out wonderful!  I really enjoyed reading it, and yes, now I, too, want a 43B! I was lucky enough to score a very nice 43, in good condition, a while back. But, the 43B is now calling my name, so I guess I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one. Thanks, very much, for sharing your situation with us, too. I'm sorry about your accident, and hope and pray for a quick and full recovery for you, Sir. May we soon read about you being back out and about, with your beloved 43B, enjoying many more wonderful adventures!! Thanks, again, for your neat post, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    hi P. Lynn Miller

really sorry to here about your bike cropper, but at least now you will have time to give your stove a going over ;)

mine cost me £18.99 so i spent quite a bit more than you did and mine was no where near as tidy as yours was but a few hours in the zap tank and a fettle and she looks and runs 100% better than when i got her
all i have to do now is place an ad in the trading post and see if i can get my hands on a Radius control spindle [-o< as the Optimus ones don't look right, oh and a spirit can that fits in the clip would be nice too [-o<

ps sorry but i just had to spray her black ;)

    Hi Lynn,

Here's my 43 (no B): internal link It burns kero.

Love it. Its design and functionality go way beyond any of my expectations. I only wish there were more of them so that they weren't so spendy. And yes, I would love to get my hands on a 43B! Maybe I'll see one in a museum sometime. ;)

    Doc,

Thanks for your kind words. So your '43' is a kero burner, but what burner and rack does it have? A '43B' just sold on eBay on Monday(21 Sept 2009) from a seller in the UK. The closing price was £86, I was very tempted... wonder if anyone on CCS is waiting for it in the post?

    Parramethrol,

You did a fantastic 'fettle' on your '43', looks gorgeous! Maybe I should send my '43B' over to workshop for some TLC. Would really like to hear a '43' with a 'roarer', must sound fantastic!

    Sam,

Thanks for all the photos of your '43'... the silent burner on your '43' is very different from the silent burner on my '43B'. Your burner is like the burner on Mike's '43', who started this thread.

Does anyone else on CCS have a '43B'? If so, it would be interesting to compare notes...

OK... some observations... and old photos that I found that would have been posted onto CCS in 2003...

The burner on my '43B' has slots cut into the spreader ring for burner plate like it was a 'roarer', but then converted to a 'silent' burner...

    1253833060-2003_08_17_011.jpg

And it appears that the burner on the '43B' that just sold was the same... if you look close you can see the slots in the burner ring. 1253833616-Radius_43B_-_UK_Seller_-__86.jpg

And my 'silent' burner does not have any wires or etc...

    1253833970-2003_08_17_010.jpg

Also there seems to be a correlation between the the 'cross-over' rack and the two small handles while the one big 'D' handle like my '43B', Mike's '43' and the eBay '43B' have the sliding rack.

I also noticed that the kero burning '43's' do not have the pressure relief valve on the tank...

    1253833880-2003_08_17_012.jpg

Here is the pressure relief valve disassembled with one of my dodgey gaskets...

The absence or presence of a pressure relief valve will let you spot a '43B' a mile away, even if you cannot read the fine print on the tank.

Hope that we can get a few other '43' users to contribute to this thread and maybe Ross will let one of us summarize this information for the 'Reference Gallery'.

    Thanks,

    Lynn

    Hello, Lynn,

You are very welcome, Sir. I do hope you recover very quickly, with no problems at all.

I'm going to try and post one photo of my own Radius 43, then I'm off to the shower, as I'm still filthy, and I do mean FILTHY, from our Stove Gathering!! One shower in the whole time there..... :-&
