From what I can find there are only a couple of other No. 4s in the reference gallery, this makes it three. I spotted this as a reasonably priced but-it-now and decided to add to my very modest collection (two) of Radius stoves. It wasn’t until it arrived that I noticed it was a No. 4. All I did before lighting it up was rinse the tank (the paraffin came out as clean as it went in) and soak the leather in a bit of oil so I could flare it with little risk of breaking it. As I understand it the A.B. Stamp indicates it was manufactured prior to 1938. @Blackdog has suggested in Rusty but Running that the knurling on the pump cap makes it somewhat older. The adapted tin it came in was also of interest. Some searching identifies it as a gunsight for a 20mm Oerlikon cannon. I’m wondering if anybody can tell me if I should be thinking about Royal Navy or RAF colours if I repaint it. -R
