    Greetings,

I've just completed refurbing a Coleman 457. What a stove ! The pressure guage was a wreck, but has been brought back to life. Thought others would enjoy the results and the procedure.

The ring securing the glass could not be loosened. Used a Dremel tool with fine cutting wheel to score the ring being careful not to cut through. Used a flat blade screwdriver to break the ring and remove. The rest was careful cleaning and painting.

Used Rustoleum Rust Reformer Primer which converts any rust to a stable compound. The matte black finish is perfect.

Wired the ring back to shape using fine copper wire and silver soldered using 56% silver. Filed to shape and you can't locate the repair.

For those interested, Vulcan's Workshop on eBay is a great source for silver solder and the all important Hi temp flux to repair iron, including cast iron. http://stores.ebay.com/Vulcans-Workshop

    Cheers,

    Bud
