Primus no.76 - 1935 Tank got overheated from using too large a kettle and the solder seam melted (cue fireball). I carefully repaired the tank seam, primer valve solder was also leaking and the tank hooks melted off during repairs but used a micro blowtorch and a wet rag over the other soldered bits to pop them back on. Runs really well but could use a tart up.
@Kiwi cooker You’ve certainly got a good flame happening there! A great sense of satisfaction after all your fettling exploits?!!!
That’s an uncommon stove, @Kiwi cooker. There’s only one in the Reference Gallery, so when you’re ready it would be good to see it there. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony I will give it a crack. Do I add to the existing thread? Looks like the earlier ones didn’t have the priming burner. Cheers Tom
It is requested that each example is put into a new thread: Maker; model; year… in title. And then as much detail of the stove as is feasible. Thank you for doing this. Tony
I've got to milk this one for all it's worth... It's going to be hard for me to better this contribution to the thread. Rescued from a recycling centre by @A A C's son, this Möller 'Comet No.1' is finally awake after a very long sleep. New filler cap seal, pump leather and original cork pump valve seal reversed. Burner cleaned out, and a tiny solder repair was needed to the pipe union on the tank. Sporting a new jet in these photos, the original now has a hypodermic insert (credit @presscall method!). Cap borrowed from this stove, the challenge now is to make a replica. Game on! Northern lights as she comes back to life: Crank her up: Pure blue: A huge thank you to all involved!
This boy's brave attitude What a magnificent specimen! Saved from certain death. Congratulations on a job well done .
Thanks @Rodger Willows and @Knee- certainly an amazing survivor and a thing of beauty! Call me bonkers but I see very imperfect stoves with a perfect flame as something of an art form!
Thank you @Knee, I've made a note of that phrase to keep ready for the future when I'm challenged by anybody
It’s a Primus ,handi, companion, radius, Valor stove I made this one piece at a time lord one piece at a time. left handed adjustable roarer burner out of a couple of junk burners primus roarer and can’t remember the silent adjustable Cobbled an end cap from a destroyed Valor stove and it sits in a companion stovette. Ended up as a casting stove for lead bullets for about five years burning all sorts of strange god knows stuff. The pan holders kept bending down from the weight and braking off got sick of welding them back on. I found it in the shed after I was gunna fix it but never got around to it. I think the air gap it a little too short between nipple and flame plate. It glows red when you are melting lead. The flame plate it a junked silent cap and the cast trivet is also cracked. NRV still good as well as the pump leather and fuel cap washer. Boils a litre of water in about 8 minutes or so. Bottom of pot surprisingly clean. Might consider taking offers or orders. Be quick! Only a generous pile of junkque materials left. Well I hope it belongs here and I hope it fits. Ain’t pretty as the talent I’ve seen previously in this thread.
