Did some fettling tonight. As mentioned previously, my 8R wasn't turning off all the way and the cleaning needle needed to be reset correctly.

Disassembled, needle removed entirely for testing. Priming with heat from my hands:

Cleaning needle reinstalled to four clicks. Looks fine to me. Had to change testing locations as I'd started fettling another stove in that area and had flammable fuels about: 20180823_182023.jpg

In the dark, it looks to be burning a bit off center: 20180823_182039.jpg

My darned camera was NOT cooperating tonight and did not save the photos of the case. I started scotch-brighting the rusty spots and will be figuring out what to treat them with. I want to preserve the patina/history of the stove while also keeping it from rusting any more. Is there a heat resistant clear coat?

    Edit: Indeed there is. Solved.

High heat clear coat arrived and applied to the case. Looks a bit shinier now but that's the only difference.

Edit: Apologies on the quality of the first photo. The last two photos, what looked like just dark spots in the case sure look like rust in the photos! I'll have to recheck next time I'm out in the shop, if the rust is actually that bad it'll be getting re-done. I'll try and get better photos.
