HI Mathias - well done! Is the mold made of thick brass (both parts?) and what is that tool you used to press them together? Drill press-type machine?

I say, OUTSTANDING. I sure could use one of those for my 00. Any chance you could ship it to the States? Thanks for posting

    Beautiful work

Excellent work, but lack of access to a 30-tonne press will hold up production here at Presscall Manor until I make room for one in the Old Stables ...

    Thanks to all,

the mould is thick brass because it was available in this diameter. Normally i wanted to use steel.

For pressing i used a hydraulic press like this:

and John.... this huge baby is not at home, its at my workplace. :)

    Good idea!

Perhaps it's possible to find a pipe with the right diameter so you don't have to solder it.

    Thanks for sharing

I guessed it was something more beefy than an apple press, Matthias. Just my little joke.

You said you'd welded and not brazed the joint in the brass strip.

I suppose you mean that the filler rod you used was not silver solder but brass? 'Brazed' and not 'silbrazed'?

In the UK that would be 'brazed and not 'hard soldered' and 'welding' would refer to ferrous metal fused joints. These terms certainly get confusing.

Any reason why the 'welded' and not 'brazed' joint? Extra strength I suppose to sustain the next (pressing) part of the process?

Isn't that what crushed the Terminator (Arnie) in the 1st movie? That thing can pound with the best of them (lol). Very impressive, thanks Matt.

Oh sorry, John you are right, i meant that i didnt silbrazed it with silver solder.
That possibly would become liquid again in use with a roaring burner when the flame ring is glowing!
What i wanted to say is that i added material with the same melting point as the brass strip.

Thanks Matthias. Just wondered if I was missing out on a technique or material I wasn't aware of.

Again, my compliments on an excellent piece of work.

Hi Yonadav, wow, I did not think that this works.

    Hi Bart,
no, i pressed after cooling down the ring. Then it should be a little softer than before.
