Where i come fro.(which uses the real english-as close to queens english-as possible) WELDING is any process where filler and base material are fused together. Brazing is brass or bronze filler where base metal is not melted Hard solder(with the 'l' pronunced for that rather large EX colony) is high temp solder with varying composition Soft solder(see above not on pronunciation) basically lead solder for electronics or other low strength application
When brazing brass I would expect the base metal to melt a little bit so in that one case brazing becomes a form of welding. Brazing would be more correct but its close enough to be called welding
Ive recently done this. I only have a gas ax handpiece so plenty of heat. I havent gas fussion welded brass since Bangkok in 94/5 so way out of touch and sad to say i blew a hole in the $10 hosetail fitting-ruining the entire job. Ive made a little toy that i wil test and pist if it works.
