Sigg fuel bottles

    I finally found my old Sigg fuel bottles. One dark red and one plain aluminum, both in perfect condition (except for the gasket). I plan on replacing the gaskets with o-rings. What is the purpose of the two holes drilled into the threads of the caps and is it a concern if the o-rings partially block those holes?

    the holes are so that you can pour fuel in a semi controlled fashion without needing to remove the lid, but the pukka sigg pouring spouts are better imo
