    @presscall John, thanks for the write up. It makes me think of my Coleman Denali stove (Coleman Denali, model 9790) that comes with a similar device, but in this case to enable use of same red gas cannister in your post but with gas cannister supported in an inverted fashion, presumably to aid gas flow? I'm not sure.
    But I will pull out my Sigg Tourist and see how it fits...I have 2 versions, one for the Svea 123 (that I use all the time) and one for the Coleman 400/CampingGaz 206...

    Liquefied gas feed to a burner capable of vapourising it with a pre-heating loop of the generator. It ensures that there’s a supply of fuel in low ambient temperatures, when the liquefied butane in the canister would be barely capable of producing enough vapour pressure to feed the burner with fuel in its gaseous form. An inverted canister sends liquefied butane to the burner by gravity, maybe helped a bit by whatever residual gas pressure remains in the near-freezing canister.

    Ah hah! Thanks for the explanation. The Denali has the loop, my Nova and Primus variants, do not. Neither does my Soto pocket stove whick looks similar to the Rocket. Probably not wise to use an inverted cannister with these.

    No, but the Soto Windmaster and MSR Rocket De-Luxe have a regulator device incorporated that gets the best out of a butane/isobutane fuel source at low temperatures. Essentially, the output is not regulated by a restricted jet orifice but by a regulator responsive to vapour pressure in the gas canister.
