This stove burns alcohol or gasoline. A small brass tube is placed under the burner when using alcohol. I expect that I will leave the stove in alcohol mode all the time, but like the option of switching fuel if necessary. This stove is just slightly smaller than a Coleman stove. The pump doubles as a fuel cap. I have not taken it apart yet, but I read somewhere that it uses a synthetic leather in the pump. I have used the stove once so far and can say it works well and makes plenty of heat even when used with alcohol. DK58A is the kerosene/alcohol version of this stove. The stoves are identical except for the burner and price. The kerosene version is much more expensive, but might be worth it for someone who likes a powerful kerosene stove in a small package. They also make a smaller, self-pressurized gasoline stove with a silent burner. I got it here: sigmaiwalker.com
I've been eyeing those for a while. It is kind of tempting but I haven't found the stove funds to justify it yet.
Do my eyes deceive me or this stove has no overpressure safety valve?! If used in high temperature environment(35 celcius or more) I would be "slightly worried" ... Especially if using gasoline as fuel... Even a decades old Shmel-2 stove has a safety valve... Chinese engineers don't care about "such things" or users?!
Nice looking stove @Dwight Not many alcohol stoves out there. It's 131-ish USD as we speak on AliExpress. What did you pay for it and what type of alcohol (and percentage) do you use in this stove? Edit: it is significantly cheaper ordering from the iWalker site. Even with the replacement valve parts, it is 30 USD cheaper, with free shipping. Sounds like a good deal.
I know what Optimus nova can burn :-) I love stoves that are able to burn and generate heat using fuels that can be found and bought almost anywhere! Gasoline is my choice when it's very cold outside. 97% alcohol just for preheating! Or not at all as in Optimus nova! Cheers
