hey, cool book, so cool i had to buy one. i noticed a few people in this thread who want a copy, yet only the evil words Amazon and eBay popped up as a source. (by the way, the archive link is great, thanks for that) anyway, here are a couple websites i always shop first before even considering Amazon. prices can be considerably less than Amazon. hope these help in your book searches. http://www.abebooks.com/ http://www.alibris.com/
John the station wagon book is a major find and a great post! i'll be looking thru it in detail tonight. i got a lucky find for the Gaz carts.i got a empty with the perk and of course could see that nothing at my local camp stores would fit.then that summer i was at my canoe trip outfitters in Ely Mn after a trip into Canada and in their store they had the carts for a Scorpion Stove which fit. anyway i bought all the cans he had and started using the stove.i refill them now. so if you need fuel check for that stove and the carts that go with it. Ian i have that big canvas tent in tan and we used it on a few Fall drive in camp trips. being cold out it served as a cook shack during the day as well as a bedroom at night.
I appreciate the advice for the good camper on page 20: The Good Camper— 2. Before leaving camp: (a) Burns his garbage and buries his tin cans; he does not throw them into the water.
How things have changed. Now its take nothing but pictures leave nothing but footprints (if they cant be avoided) You take your rubbish with you. I remember the days when our hiking huts had rubbish pits. They would move every time you throw stuff in because of the rats and some of them didnt smell very good either. These days they are all filled in and if you bring it in you take it out as well. I bought rubbish out today that wasnt ours but the owner was long gone and rubbish breeds. Leave 1 tin can today and in a week there is 3 and in a month 100
@presscall , Hey, John, Thanks for the post about this interesting book. Dated thought it is, it's still worth seeking out and adding to our libraries. Did just that tonight, when I found one on the 'bay, for just under $19, including shipping. Always interesting to see "how they did it" in earlier times, eh?!! Thanks, again, for the recommendation, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Mark
