while living in me Tramper van, part time, parked at Stonehenge, here is me using me Turn Sport, to make coffee in me Tramper van, as it was raining outside , all H&S was taken, ,
A hard frost yesterday morning, and the warm jacket weather last evening, encouraged me to have a tea on one of the slate topped tables in the backyard… A couple of youngsters put to duty: a Coleman 222b, 5/93, and a Coleman 533, 8/03… Temps me to do a bunch of lantern/stove/& tea after dark photos… Maybe use stoves and lanterns of the same relative age? Any way, it was a pleasant moment of solitude…
Testing out the 1938 Coleman 500 on stir fry duty. Cabbage, onion, garlic, ginger, aussie prawns, blueeye fish, chile, olive oil, sesame oil and tamari. @snwcmpr The flat bottom wok works very well on the Coleman 500 setup. Cheers Tony
Used my primus No. 57 for some fries and chorizo. The silent burner does quick work with thin CS pan. Daryl SoCal
Very nice guys. I haven't posted any new stoves in use pics lately because I have apparently adopted several cats/kittens outside and food isn't safe outdoors atm lol. The properties that are vacant next door are rat free and all of my squirrels and moles have disappeared as well so I have kept them around. This was the first year that we actually got some of our peaches. Usually the squirrels get them.
As you can see stoves used condition has no effect on how it preforms! Thanks for taking the time to post. Can only think how good those hash browns tasted with the infusion of bacon fat.
@Daryl The bacon grease fried spuds were great. My wife didn't think so but that's her problem. The stove developed some issues during the week-long camping trip, but considering it had little maintenance in its 70+ years, I can't complain. An hour of fettling on the tailgate of the pickup had it working like new.
Out leaf looking today,,, stopped at White Pine Rustic (free) Campground,,, on the Honeymoon Trail,,, north of Tofte, MN… 3 campsites here, and an outhouse,,, near the boat ramp is a single picnic table,,, one of our favorite spots for a boil up and a meal when we’re near… A Coleman 413H,,, dated to 1988… Toasted English muffins, fried ham, cheese, and black tea for lunch… Nice view from the table… I’ve got a dozen or more of those Primus fuel bottles left from the 2 dozen I bought from Ann Bancroft, the arctic traveler,,, nice fuel bottles those… She sold me a couple of dozen 32oz plastic Nalgene fuel bottles as well, the sort with the funnel inside, under the lid… I use the Primus for white gas, and the Nalgene for kerosene,,, helps me remember what is where… As we were leaving, and not far down the road, three of four Native Americans were pulling a goodly sized bull moose from the bush… Herself took a bunch of photos of it, and the fella who killed it said he used a 7mm magnum; I’d reckon that’d do it!
That's a very good Minnesota moose! Bigger than the one my party got in 1999. No more open moose hunting in Minnesota now except for the tribal people. My compliments to them!
@Greeley ,,, at first when we stopped, they seemed a mite standoffish, but once they saw we were happy for them, they were quite talky, and happy… Yeah, that’s a nice moose, I’m pleased they got it, and that tribal people are yet able to hunt moose… They were pulling it out about halfway between the White Pine and Poplar River campgrounds… Can’t imagine the difficulties they encountered to get it to the road…
Used my Turner No. 1161 to make some Taco Soup and sautéed squash from garden. Bread was from Coleman oven the other day. Daryl SoCal
In recognition of @Spiritburner I have to say my favorite cooking system is the Trangia 25 using the spirit burner. Garlic dumpling in pasta with meat sauce. Simmering.
