Seeing @FishNChips great Turner single prompted me to pull out my Coleman DIY singles. Nothing compares to the flat, sturdy, roomy cooking surface one gets from a suitcase style stove IMHO. Think Coleman missed the boat not making a portable suitcase type single. 425S 413S 426S
Another day and another meal. Used regulated burner Optimus 7S for quick grilled cheese. Did not use my DIY shelter.
@Pharael Thank you, I do enjoy fabricating useful items. I saw an original one here with door that color that you or someone restored. That tin is very plentiful this time of year in US, normally full of popcorn or cookies. before painted and one made from fuel cans.
@Daryl Superb! If memory serves, did you not fabricate some real spiffy windshield(s) which were also pot stands/supports for SVEA 123’s out of tin cans? Those were very impressive. Pharael.
@Pharael yes I have made several and do like the word 'spiffy'. They work well with Svea 123 and 71's. I know one can buy this stuff but do enjoy using my god given skills and is very satisfying using what I have made with my own hands.
Getting cabin fever and been wanting waffles and had some chicken to cook so that how this happened. Not your normal Chicken and waffle. Normally fried chicken on a waffle. Used my Enders 9061 vehicle stoves. Both have the ID numbers that they were assigned to.
Making BIR (British Indian Restaurant) style base gravy. Once prepared you freeze it. Then when you want a curry, you use it to make the dish in minutes not hours as it would take using a more traditional method. Base Gravy Mark II I do it outside, otherwise the house smell vaguely of curry for days after.
Coleman #2 (pat 1924), and my 1920 folding frypan put to work. Eggs, bacon and Irish Oats, washed down with strong coffee. The eggs were for my son, he has been on a fried egg kick lately. You have to love that hot blast pre-heat.
New to me Sun Flame Kamkook 2221 was missing fount when found the other day and use propane adapter for its first meals. Pozole with tamale and grilled cheese. Cleaned it up and modified my Kampkook No. 7 generator to work cooking chorizo and tots. Sunny SoCal in January.
Playing around today with camp recipes, I saw a Bromwell Efficency Oven and had all the stuff for a knock off already in my chuck box. I have a small stove top oven, and several 1920s stoves with built in ovens, but don’t always feel like packing them. I baked some baking powder biscuits that came out very well. Later I decided to use the same gear for steam baking, I made a chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache frosting. It came out very nice.
