Ben I try to avoid removal of the pump tube if possible. I have used these extractors with success every time I have needed to remove a rounded NRV, with the head needing replacement regardless of removal process.
Thank you for your replies. The NRV in question is in a 1915 Primus 96. If there is a replacement NRV that will work then perhaps using an extractor would be best. If not then removing the tube seems best. Maybe I'll just leave it as it is since I probably won't be using it anyway. Ben
Being a 1915 96 does add another variable to consider its rarity. First you could add kerosene to the pump tube and slowly pump through the NRV where the fuel may freshen up the cork pip & help cycle the spring. Next try the pressure tests and determine best route, if needed. If your wanting to try the extractors I'm happy to lend mine along with a NOS NRV.
This is an uncommon problem. Old 96 with a stuck NRV. I would put Kano Kroil in the pump tube and leave it for a few weeks. Then remove the tube as Kerophile said.
@z1ulike I use a long drill 4mm and an extractor. In less than 5 minutes is out. I removed few rounded NRV after trying all the other ways and losing days. Let's see if i find the pictures from my earlier extractions Cheers, Francisc
