Svea Regulating Keys, Pot Handles and Windscreens

I just finished this one…

I bought the 5-in-1 clock winding key (odd numbers) because I originally thought I could make two from each one. The #7 (4mm) was correct for the 123R shaft, but I was wrong about the #3 (3mm) fitting the 123, 80, 71. The 3mm is too large…I have a couple #2 (2.75mm) keys on order...which I hope will work.

The socket slot had to be filed out a bit to fit the thickness of the Snow Peak Short Spork and the end was notched to get an overall length that would stow inside my cookset.

I can confirm now that a #2 (2.75mm) winding key is the correct size for the 123/71/80. These are French style keys with long shafts. It should be no problem to fabricate a tool head and attach it using the notch and pin method I did with the spork. What I'm really after is a phenolic knob to put on one of these so I can leave it attached while the stove is running...I have difficulty getting the key on the Primus 71 when it is in the Groninger windscreen.

I also have had a 123 which has been sitting around for quite a while ( I thought i could get it into one of those military tins but it don't fit at all ) , so after seeing some of the mods here.........



I made this

Just need to make a flame plate



The clamp/frame is made from brass strip with some 6mm brass rod soft soldered on & pre-drilled out the accept the legs i made , the legs have a slight double kink in the bottom & this stops them from spinning about & i tapped the bottom of each tube to let 3 domed allen screws act as feet keeeping it off the deck







The stainless dishes came from a charity shop for 50p the pair & it all fits in nicely



But they could be dog food bowls though



Will polish up & titify the whole kit then add a spirit bottle & simple pot gripper too

That's a nice job...I was thinking about making one the same way with the screw and nut to tension the band

The Titanium cure for the Svea Missing Cup Symdrome...

These are assorted brands, but they seem to have all come from the same factory. From left to right are 550ml, 600ml, 750ml and 800ml sizes.

The current distributor is Toaks - 95mm Diameter Pots

 

This is the Snow Peak Titanium Mini Solo Cookset...

 

I picked up a male clamping knob with a 10-24 screw at the hardware store. I was looking for something with about an inch or greater diameter knob, but the selection was limited. The screw was filed down into a tab to fit the notch of the winding key shaft and pinned like my previous spork.

The knob did get quite warm by the time a full kettle of water came to a boil, but not skin blistering hot.

I was so enamoured with the french style clock keys for the 123/71/80 etc that i got several for the spares box & one for the 123 conversion i mentioned earlier & i also made a flame plate for the 123 as mine was missing , here are some pic's.....

Yes, that one key does make your Svea look like a wind up toy but I LOVE IT!!!
