Nevermind, imagine my surprise. I just went back through the T-shirts on the Mast website and found the picture posted. So thankful I found this thread.
My curiosity was piqued by this thread and I thought I would check who was the illustrator of one of my favourite books, "How to keep your Volkswagen Alive" by John Muir, as the style is very similar. Not the same artist but maybe capturing the zeitgeist!
@SSG Yes, I believe that other tshirt is in stock. Or often times is, I have seen them. You found tshirts on the Mast website? Let me know if I can help, I can call my local store and speak to one of my friends.
In the image you posted, the cover says Illustrated by Peter Aschwanden. I assume that is who drew the illustration. Ken in NC
Correct Ken. The book is full of those quirky cartoons and snippets of philosophy! I'm not sure how well Peter Aschwanden is known but the author John Muir's was a guru on VW's.
I love the way John Muir ends his introduction of the topic of engine rebuilding... "P.S. The procedures may read like gibberish in the living room in front of the fire but will come clear as you work with the hardware, the tools in your hand." And once you're at the point of "mantling" your engine he offers the reader reassurance "Don't get shook! All those pieces!" Not your traditional approach to "how to" but someone very in touch with their subject and audience.
Ken, Many thanks! I contacted the store today and they had them in stock. I ended up purchasing four of each print (and will probably end up buying more). They were so friendly and helpful and the package has already shipped. Should be here Friday! I appreciate your willingness to help.
