hi any help on how to seal the filler cap on a taykit pocket stove looks like there is a rubber stopper in side the filler cap along with the wire to clean jet hole I don't think I have a air tight seal as soon is stove builds up pressure I can see fuel seeping out of cap tried to make a rubber washer/o ring put cap back on lit stove and it leaked worse and caught stove on fire had to run out of garage and throw it in the snow bank to put it out was thinking Teflon tape on the threads or automotive silicone inside the cap at the bottom just bought the stove and want to see it roar THANKS
The rubber stopper should be in the center of burner coil to keep fuel from leaking from the stove, the wire is for cleaning the jet on the coil, and it doesn't belong inside the fuel cap. Most auto parts places have Viton O-rings, NAPA will be your best place to start. Murph
On the Taykit the cleaning wire is moulded into the cap gasket and it most definitely does belong inside the cap. I've got seven of the little wonders. I've had to make gaskets by punching a circle out of a viton sheet, then splitting the thickness (a big pain in the butt), then punching a center hole. You have to cut away the outer edges of the original gasket saving the lump in the center with the wire and put the new gasket over the lump to hold it in place. After doing several of mine, while working on another stove I realized a Coleman 242 cap gasket might just be a fit. I'd certainly try that first. They take a thin gasket and are very sensitive to any leak from the cap.

My one Taykit, I removed the factory seal with pricker rod and put a----I don't remember what. I might have used an o-ring, or I might have cut a seal, but like said above, it has to be thin. Removing the factory seal/pricker was not easy, did it with a pick and small screwdriver, it was rock hard. Silicone will not work.
