exactly M - it is unfortunate that both the helical spring and the retaining collar thread are both 'right handed' if the spring were wound 'left handed' then the force transmitted to the collar would tend to tighten the collar rather than loosen it also the faulty stove had been assembled in the factory without any grease in the valve assembly which may have contributed to the problem
Beautiful write up - l love mine and until 6 months ago l had no problems - perfect for me and many group and solo meals. Charging has been fine for me - in fact it's still fully charged since its last use. Its not that it doesn't work only that l can't get any of the pan rests to come out again. It's been through alsorts so l think it maybe the springs. How did you get the top off? Mine is glued (l think) to a plastic ring (l couldn't shift it) and even unscrewing everything l could see didn't lossen it. I miss my stove and any info on how to replace the springs and /or fix her would be gratefully appreciated - thx Denize
@Denize Ok, three Phillips-pattern crosshead screws to undo. Note they’re Phillips pattern and not the more common Posidriv type, superficially similar but not a fit. Phillips screwdriver top, Posidriv bottom. The location of the three fixing screws. Two of the screws visible here, partially undone. With the pot rest frame removed, you’ll have access to the individual pot rest pivots and securing screws. What you’ve said suggests seizing of the pivot posts in the frame. Don’t force them, the sintered metal could easily fracture. Oil them and allow the oil to do its work over a couple of days. If that doesn’t work (it should) you might try dunking the pot rest assembly in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes. On reassembly, be aware that there’s only one orientation of the pot rest and thats with a couple of lugs matching up with corresponding sockets in the stove body. Good luck! John
I came across this Facebook post from 2020 which reports that the Tegstove business failed in 2018, the year I compiled my original post. Knowing now of the demise of the Tegstove, it’s interesting to see the original Dragons’ Den episode which led to production of the product.
