Hey guys, you must at least fire it up once unless of course you have a user and another for display. I fire up all my new stoves. We live only once to experience the beauty of stoves. At least I dont regret it if ever I am called to the pearly gates :content:

Invest for the future if you have the funds.

    I know you will HJ

    Hy guys,

sorry, i had not seen the shipping-restriction.
The problem with swiss and shipping is, that swiss lies geographically in Europe, but is so much federal state, that it is not in any European trading-community, what makes a lot of work with export-taxes and tariff - so a lot of swiss companies do have this export-restrictions.
But let me see if i can manage something with a friend of mine in swiss.
I will call back in later this day

    Best regards, Björn

Okay, my pal in Swiss will try to get as much stoves as still available.

If it is possible at all, he will sell to US and UK and other countries. :D/
I will tell you more if he gives an OK to me, if he is able to get some stoves and spareparts.

I'll keep you informed, until soon, Björn

    Hi, Bjorn,

(Sorry, I don't know how to put the marks over the "o" in your name, Sir. ) Many thanks for your efforts to secure stoves, and especially spare parts for the Borde!! I certainly appreciate it, and will look forward to hearing how your Friends efforts turn out! I would most certainly be interested in a few spare flame spreader/regulators, and maybe another stove, too, depending on final price and shipping. Thanks, again, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

Doc, you mean this one> ö

Knowing you use the Mac, there should be a character map here's how:

Yes, there is. To access it, you need to enable the input menu. Open System Preferences, and go to the International section. Go to the Input Menu tab, and check the "show input menu in menu bar" tab. Also make sure that "Character Palette" is checked in the list at the top.

Now you can just select Show Character Palette from that menu from anywhere. You can drag and drop special characters from the palette into any text field in your apps, or copy and paste.

Just helping one (old fart to another  )

Hi Doc, first press the "¨" key, and then the "o" which gives you "ö"! ;)

Like you I'd be interrested in learning wether a spare flame spreader can be bought for a Borde, and how much a complete one would cost. I have a user one, but would also like a "display" Borde! O:) I must say, I never saw any spare parts for a Borde for sale before.

    Take care,

    Wim

Hi Ron, mine is a Mac also, the ¨ simply sits on the keyboard with mine! (it is not a laptop however, there might be a difference in keyboards)

    All the best,

Wim, I think the borde parts were made to last the lifetime of the actual stove unless its really been abused e.g. using it to dig a fox hole and such. I guess the only delicate part is the cleaning needle or was it just a later add-on.

Hi Ron, it is the flamespreader/cleaning needle/flame adjuster that I'd like to get, is this not a "one piece" affair, or is there a way to simply replace the needle? The needle is the weakest part of it and I'd not like to turn the Borde into a useless piece of metal by dammaging it.

    Take care,

    Wim

Doc, type "character palette" into your Finder "Help" box and you can learn how to access every character in every language on the Mac.

Things like: € £ ¥ ä ğ ò are all well-organized and easily accessible from the Character Palette.

Drop me an email if you need more help with this.

    Cheers,
    Gary

    Hey, Guys,

Yes, the flame spreader/regulator/cleaning needle is all one unit. On my last Borde, that part was stuck fast, and when I tried to free it, the cleaning needle snapped right off!  Unfortunately, this part looks to have been abused at some time in it's past, as it has a massive "twist" in the part above the cleaning needle. Looks like someone really torked it closed, which ended up causing the part to stick, and hence the needle to snap off.

Wim and Ron, thanks for the lessons on how to get that thing where it belongs. When time permits, I'll play around and see if I can find that thing. OK, I couldn't wait, so here's what I found: The using a regular Mac keyboard, if you want the two dots above any letter, click the "option" button, and at the same time click the "u". This will place the two dots in your post, then you can type an "o", or any other letter, which will then appear under the two dots, which I know has a name, but cannot recall it. Thanks, Guys!!

And, many thanks to Björn, for his help with Borde goodies!! :D :D Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
Doc (Ya' learn something new, everyday!!) :D :D 8) 8)

    Hey, Dawg,

Many thanks! Yes, I also found that same stuff, after I posted my note on the "shortcut" to getting the thing I needed! Ahhhh, it's horrible to have a computer.... phone.... camera..... and watch, ALL smarter than oneself!!    ;) ;)    Thanks, again, Gary. Both Sweet Bride and I have now installed that option in our menu bar, and so can access it anytime we wish. Take care, and God Bless!

    Your welcome Doc

Wim, the needle is just for cleaning me thinks and does not really help in controlling the flames. My first borde did not come with a cleaning needle actually. I inspected it well for anything that would show that it broke off but it was perfectly conical at the tip.

Hi Guy's, there is no problem for me with just an "o" :content:

Things are going on in Swiss, my pal phoned the old Mr. Baader (76 years by now) and - um lets say there might be a chance, that a new generation of Borde-Stoves and spareparts may appear in this or next year :D
But nothing is fixed until now, let's hope for the best. If this occurs, they will be offered with worldwide shipping :D/
So lets [-o< for this becomes real.
    I'll keep you informed

Best regards Björn / Bjorn ;)

    Good Morning, Björn,

Outstanding information, Sir, and many thanks for all your efforts to see what is really happening over there regarding the little Borde stoves!!
Well done!!!  8) :D

I most certainly do hope that Mr. Baader continues making the Borde stoves, or that he sells the entire concern to someone else, who will do so! I'd like a brand new one that I can make into a user, just for grins! And, I'd very much like to get a new flame spreader/regulator for one of my old Borde stoves, too. So, I'll keep a happy thought in my heart, and hope that this all comes to pass, in due time! Thanks, again, Björn, for your efforts, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

P.S. Do you live in Hamburg? I spend a very happy time there, for several months, back in 1977. I walked all over that place, and very much enjoyed living there. Tried to get a job there, actually, but at that time, foreigners were not really being hired, as all jobs went to the local Germans, which is a good thing, I think. In any case, I have very fond memories of my time in Hamburg, and look forward to returning with Sweet Bride to show her where I lived, and some of the wonderful things I enjoyed whilst there!

Hi Doc, yes, living in Hamburg, born and raised - but in 1977 I was not even planned ;)

Today it is the other way around with Jobs here - lots of unemployed, school-qualification-crisis wages dumped by many turkish immigrants... but a beautiful city still.

Call in when you're coming over, there is always a can of coffee on one of the stoves

Bjorn, that was my impression when I travelled there 30 years ago about the Turkish migrants. My German friends knew what was happening then and I guess the realization came true. I wont venture further but I know what you mean.

Hm - thats another theme ...
Probably situation will normalize after Turkey becomes a member of the European Union or if Germany is bancrupt :( But this has nothing to do with borde-stoves

I will teach all kinds of childtren soon, unimportant of which nation they are, maybe a good foundation builts up a better civilisation ... you see, I am an enthusiast

Important to me is that they can read what the content of those tin is, they will cook on a stove in my lesson ;) Best regards, Björn

One of very few stoves that actually frighten me so I'm not sorry to see them go.

Its an irrational fear shared with a couple of others including the Ranger 10 and 111B, I sold all of the ones I owned.
