Hi Ron, No, it's been fired. I've got 3 others, 2 old style 123's and a 123R. All fired. I use 1 of the old style 123's as my main user. The Seivert sits on a shelf with a few Coleman Solus stoves and a few other nice ones I cleaned up. These stoves I don't normally use, I have some others designated for that. These "shelf" stoves are the ones I'll never part with...and use on special occasions. Gary's minicap seems to fit the Seivert the best. I thought it was fitting to the "shelf" too. A very special stove, now made even MORE special!
Hi guys! Thought I'd just pop in and say "Thanks" for all the nice comments on the mini-caps. I'm really glad that folks seem to be liking them. I've sure been having fun with them and I'm glad I could spread the joy a bit. All the minicaps I made have been shipped out or otherwise spoken for at the present time. I have some others that I will be assembling this winter, but I have some big commitments on my life until December-ish. I will post a notice when more are available in the Trading Post area of CCS. If you'd like to pre-order, just PM me here at CCS, but don't be surprised if you don't get a response until December. Sorry about that. I thought I'd chime in with my favorite set up for the mini-cap - an 8R with a midi-pump and cap set used with a mini-cap. Wow! I'm not sure why I'd need a 199 the way mine performs in this configuration. Usual disclaimers apply, but give it a try and see what you think. I hope the overseas folks get them soon. BD-25 arrived in the Arnold household today. Naturally, I had to fire it right up and brew a cup of tea. It works great. Like someone else said, it seems to make a real simmer possible with a 123R. And while I have a certain fondness for the old "roar", there's a lot to be said for this much more well-mannered burner! I took some photos with my cellphone. I hope they came out OK. BD26 came today its raining but i had to get out in the shed and try that beautiful LItle chunk of brass out! not even full blast with the minipump and a simmer shot
Today I tried it out on an Optimus 8R. Wow! As much as I liked it on the Svea 123R, it really rocks on the 8R! I expect it will get a lot more use in that configuration. Gary, I can see why you favor this combo.

And another thank you from me; BD38 has arrived and been put to good use. Actually, I had a bit of an adventure. :o My first attempt was on a Svea 123. All it would do was underburn. I would turn off the stove, and quickly relight, and it would burn nicely for a couple of seconds, and then go back to underburning. Eventually, I realized that the burner bell was slightly out-of-round (oh yeah, this is the stove I dropped 29 years ago on our honeymoon camping trip.) Lesson learned #1: You need a round burner bell -- there can't be any gaps between bell and minicap. Ok, put the stove out, tip the minicap off onto a metal sheet. Go inside and retrieve another stove; let's see, how about an Optimus 8R? Get white gas, fill stove, put white gas away, answer questions from wife and daughters, quick look out for skunks -- none? Back to the test site. Move the Svea -- it's nice and cool -- put the 8R into place. Pick up the minicap. OW!!! (not what I actually said.) Lesson learned #2: These things stay hot for a LONG time. After soaking my fingers and getting a pair of pliers, I was finally ready for the try on the 8R. I wanted a good flame picture, but didn't feel like messing with the tripod. This hand-held shot isn't sharp (best I could do with toasty fingertips), but shows the minicap doing it's job, producing a nice even flame -- and doing it silently. ....Arch
Hi Arch, a fair number of burner bells on these small stoves are non-circular when you recieve them. I have seen them so bad that you can hardly locate a flame-plate on them! If you have access to a lathe you can turn the "bell" slowly by hand and gently push or tap it into shape. Aren't these mini-dampers of Gary's wonderful! Best Regards, George.
Initially, I experienced an underburning problem when running a Radius 42, in its case w/ a BD silent cap. I also found that the cap jammed in the bnr bell when the stove cooled. However, when I tried it again, yesterday, I encountered neither of these problems - just a good burn!

Hi Doron I'm very happy to see that you have received your minicap! With regard to the Coleman 530, the minicap will fit a bit sloppily in the basket and will function on the 530. With only 150 holes in the cap, it's about at the limit of the design to pass that much fuel/air. Try it and see what you think. For the 530 and other mil spec stoves, I have another cap - the midi-cap. It's a bit bigger and has 200 holes. It will also work on the Primus/Optimus 96's and on Monitor 17B's. Several test models of the midi-cap in matte finish went out last Thursday to testers around the world. Here's what they looked like: Here's a picture where I'm holding a minicap next to a midi-cap in operation on a Primus 96. You can see the midi-cap is significantly bigger. While the midi-cap will function great on pump driven stoves that fit it, the self-pressurizing stoves (70's, 71's, 123's, 8R's, etc) can not power it. Plus, their baskets are generally too small to fit the larger size of the cap. I'll be making the midi-caps available later this winter if reports are positive from the testing crew. OK I will try the mini cap on the 530, until the midi cap arrives one Q here how do I take the burner plate out on the 530??
Hey, Guys, Here's my "no number" cap, burning merrily on my Radius 20, which is very similar to the #96 stoves. VERY nice work, Bernie Dawg!! Like many others have written, when my cap arrived, I really felt it was too pretty actually use!! But, once we got going, at our Stove Gathering, the gloves came off, and burn we did, with great success on all stoves on which it was tried!! I'm having so much fun using the mini-cap, I find it hard to believe that it was not OEM material. How did the geniuses at Optimus et al. (and I am not being ironic) miss this? I wish there were enough crazy stovies in the world that Gary would have to set up a factory in China to meet the demand.
