    Hi Folks,

My go-to supply of pump leathers from Ross are slightly too thick for an early Primus project.

Don't get me wrong, Ross' are superb quality but the volume of brass down at the working end of the pump is very limiting in space.
I am using one at the moment which works perfect but it's a very very tight fit in the pump bore and I'm scared it will damage the tube.

So, does anyone know of a supplier who sells "thin" (almost to the point of being ineffective ), leather pump cups?

    I thought I'd ask anyway ☺️

It is very easy to make your own pump leathers. All you need is leather, a piece of thick plywood, a wood drill bit of the right diameter, and a metal drill bit matching the finished part's inner diameter (pump tube diameter minus twice the leather thickness).
    Regards.

Make one to fit using the pump tube itself as a former

    ...or...

Do as the vintage air rifle folks do by skimming down the leather to size. Chuck it in a drill* and spin against sandpaper-or better- a belt sander/flap wheel.

Both have worked for me dozens of times (the latter method mostly on rifles and a few times on stoves).

    * Take a suitable machine screw, add the largest washer which will fit inside the cup, then the leather, another washer then nut. Locknut if it keeps undoing, or reverse the drill.
