    hi Keron
have you seen pics of Ross's "old" trangia ?
it's enough to make you want to cry ;) the poor thing is blacker than a Sigg clone and more dented than Kirk Douglas's chin

No, I haven't, but I can imagine that it may correspond with my 45 year old trusty Abumatic 80 reel, which I got from my dad, and still in proper condition, ready for the next generation.

Are your Optimus 111C burner adapters no longer available? I am interested in an adapter I can solder into the Optimus 111C burner fuel line to accomodate an Optimus Nova fuel line. Thanks.

The standard fuel hose adaptor, which is available, fit also 111C burner into the Nova fuel line, just like with 111T. But if your aim is to cut the fuel hose line of 111C and thereafter solder the specific solderable adaptor (look my early post), the answer is no, that adaptor is not available. We have made only two prototypes of which one is soldered in my own 111C burner. I have used the soldered version as my primary stove last winter, and I can highly recommend it, because fitting/unfitting to Trangia is way easier than with our standard burner adaptor. In addition, the burner with Nova fuel hose can be packed inside of your Trangia stove. Note that soldering is advantageous only with 111C, because priming cup of 111T does not allow use of standard Optimus adaptor set for Trangia windscreen. Hope that this helps you.

Yes, that helps, thank you. Yours is the better, more elegant solution so I am going to try to fabricate an adapter like yours - perhaps buy the "Ultima Naltio" adapter and get the 111C-side threads turned down to allow insertion and soldering (I sold my lathe - Murphy's Law, now I need it).

Do you happen to know if the Nova-side threaded connection on your adapter is standard to anything other than the Nova stove? Perhaps I can source something that fits the Nova fuel line and cut it down to fit the 111C fuel line for soldering.

Just been playing with mine today in an old 25 outfit I picked up. I still need to drill the hole for the control so used it like a regular silent - bloody awesome!
    Well happy.

You'll see a big difference when you use black pans like the Aldi set, its a stunning stove/pan combo.

In making this alteration, what happens to the strainer that sits inside the fuel tube in the burner?

I guess that the need to ever remove it is so remote that soldering it into place is not an issue, correct? This strainer isn't really a fuel filter anyway from what I can tell since there is a hole down the center of it the size of a pin head. Maybe it serves as a heat generator inside this tube to better vaporize the fuel? If you can't tell, I am just guessing. HRA+++

    Dear haustin,

I cannot see any advantage in soldering, because the adaptor will work perfectly as such. If you leave the filter in the fuel tube it will be impossible to remove it for cleaning. In my own configuration (soldered adaptor in the end of cutted fuel tube), I removed the original filter from the tube before cutting and soldering. Next I made slimmer and somewhat shorter filter from the original net, and placed it inside of adaptor tube. Now I’m able to remove it for cleaning. IF you still want to solder the standard adaptor I would recommend similar work to you.

Thank you. Excellent advice. I will probably just leave the adaptor as is for now (with all connectors in place) and use it for a while and then see if I get courageous enough to cut the tube and do the work you describe.

    Greetings, All,

After our long work trip, I went down to retrieve our mail, which was being held for our return. In the box of mail, was my package from Finland, containing two of the fine adaptors that Teuvo is making, and offering!! Outstanding stuff, and very well made!! I am really looking forward to playing with them both, and thank Teuvo, very much, for his communication, quick shipping, and fantastic products!! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

I received my adaptor a couple of days ago. I filed hexogonal flats around the non-threaded section of the adaptor to match the hex-wrench opening on the end of the handle. A pair of flats would be sufficient for a 10mm end wrench but I got carried away.

    Morning, Richard,

Thanks, very much, for turning me onto this idea in the first place, and to the seller, too! Much appreciated. The seller seems like a very nice fellow, and it was a pleasure to do business with him. I look forward to getting to play around with this soon, and have a strong feeling that it will be outstanding in application!! Thanks, again, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
