My son recently purchased a Trangia 27 at what seemed a very good price on the Amazon Australia site. After about 9 days and advice it was on its way from the UK, he got a message saying something had happened and he would be getting a full refund.

AI suggests there have been issues with Trangia burners being under some kind of export mail safety restriction. Not the safety of the actual burner which is obviously fine.

The advice my son received gave little further infomation.

A check of Amazon Australia shows many variations of the 27 series still available for sale and pretty much all of them are shown as coming from the UK.

The price of the unit UL 27-1 was about half to two thirds of what the fancier models sell for and seemed a good deal.

Wondering if anyone else has any similar experience. I have only ever had trouble with a certain global shipping of a gas iron and a Tilley Underground Railway lantern.

I was waiting for his Trangia 27 to arrive as I wanted to see if his 1 litre pots fitted or mixed well with my older 750 ml pots. I believe they fit but not sure if they nest equally well with the older ones. Maybe someone can answer this too as my son is now waiting on the refund before he tries again.
