Well, I had the same problem as others have posted. Yellow flames as soon as I place the pot into the windscreen. I sent mine back to the merchant for refund. I think that if it is truly designed to work with the trangia, any other steps should not be needed. No problems with an edelrid hexon or an optimus 11 explorer, and they are not specifically designed for the trangia windscreen.
Simple - it doesn't reach up to even the most basic requirement for a decently designed pressurised burner unit: There's no regulator spindle immediately upstream of the burner jet orifice! So, no chance whatsoever to get a precise and very minute regulation between the tiniest of simmer and flat out full force. Something the Polaris, for instance, handles beautifully (like all serious pressurised liquid fuel burners). And if they also have a valve at the pump end, or canister – so much the better! Hello, I'm the original poster and have been off the forums for a while. I should add that I got my X2 working great. As was pointed out the burner seemed to be running a bit rich. I took the 3 legged burner plate that sits at the top of the bell and just bent the legs slightly so as to raise the flame plate in the center a little bit. It's possible that it was sitting too low or got pressed down as the metal in the legs is soft. I swapped back the 0.32 jet and can say that the burner now works great, no more yellow flames when a pot is put on the windshield and I can get the flame down to a pretty low simmer.
Thanks for posting the sequel @dgold. I’ll soon be installing a Multifuel in a Trangia and it’s good to have that assurance.
