I have been wondering about this, off and on, and have seen that the instructions show the chain attached to the windscreen.
This is from that auction site. Note the 51 on the instructions.
I have looked at later instructions and also find the chain attached to the windscreen. I like it there when I take the windscreen off to refill the tank.

 

Will the production date of the first svea 123 be advanced to 1951? I have three v1 but I don't have a box and no instructions. Two of them are in the photo

 

That may very well be true.
Is there anything that explains the reason for the number? It may, or may not, be a production year.

 

I’m not too keen on shelf queens, BUT there are exceptions. If I had one,I don’t know I would fire a stove that nice!

Hi @snwcmpr . No evidence at all that this is a date.

I do wish Trevor was still with us. He had a good understanding of the marking practices of the printers who produced the Optimus catalogues, brochures and instructions. We have no such knowledge of the Sievert set-up.
