Would anyone be interested in six of the G1599 butane canisters to fit a Veritas Nomad picnic stove? It may also fit their other stoves but I’m not sure. They’re at my mum’s house (on the Wirral) and she’s not sure what to do with them as they were my dad’s and she seems to have mislaid the stove.
Hi Emma and welcome. Whilst some of the older Veritas stoves used fairly unique fitting cartridges, the ones you picture are the Veritas equivalent of the Campingaz C200 pierce-able cartridge as used in the Bleuet 200s and Lumogaz loams etc. My recollection is that the Veritas Nomad was a very similar stove, finished in bright orange and some came in a n orange steel case, like the blue one fot the CampinGaz equivalent product. As such, if it is still stored in your parents house, the bright orange should simplify the search! Later CGaz models had a small design change, an indent, to frustrate the use of compatible cartridges from other makers. These were designated the 206 models and cartridges. The competition responded with an indented waist around their cartridges, which cleared the obstructing indents. Your Veritas carts do not have the shoulder indents nor the indented waists, so would fit CG200 models but not 206s. As for miriad other makes and knock off models, they likely would fit, but I cannot say for certain, but they would still be a useful source of fuel for many stoves and lanterns. I have some new and boxed stoves they would suit. One last point would concern leakage of gas from older cartridges. It happens to some cartridges. So I always weigh mine to show if they have gas of the correct volume or not. Kitchen scales are fine and I would expect a full cartridge to weigh about 285g, being 190g of gas and 95g of steel case. The lesser they weigh from 285, the less gas they still hold! It is worth a quick check before you pass them on!

I’ve done some research over the last few weeks (which is why I’ve visited this site a few times) and am guessing that they were bought with the Nomad, but haven’t come across the orange box yet. My parents’ camping days were mainly in the 60s, so everything has been around for a while. I’ll ask her to weigh the canisters, and can update. Thanks again!
