They will be reintroduced but are now so much part of the strategy of moving to a new platform it would be a major headache to reintroduce them on CCSv3. The good news is we had a bit of a breakthrough this week which I'm hoping will lead to a successful conclusion of the test migration soon.
I just got this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121490930270?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT hope it fits my Primus 96... :|
I have just received a selection of NRVs from Brass lamps and stoves In Wales, and yes the threads are not quite correct. I have sent him an email, we'll see what his reply is
Has anyone bought this set from Juliands: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111593789959?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Does it have compatible threads to old stoves?
The threads are not quite right .I bought similar items from Brass Lamps and stoves (Richard Pulo), he is quite aware he is selling sub standard items, so I left a warning note against the product on his feedback page
Ross please advise here when you have the NRV items ready for purchase. I will wait to get some until then. Ken in NC (I thought this was the best place to post this, as it is the related topic. If not, mods can delete this post)
Dangerous words are: fit nearly all It should state: These NRV's will fit to old style camp stoves (Primus, Optimus, Valor, etc.). They have been tested to fit to those stoves. Anyway, no worries! They were so cheap so I bought them and I'll see how they fit and which thread they are using. 8-[
Well, it should say that if it is true. How do we know it is? ...and I would suggest that "etc." is also a dangerous word.
My seller refunded the purchase price, and I kept the items - as he was responsible for the return postage, and didn't want the hassle. As well as refunding me the purchase price, he also cancelled the transaction, not being able to leave feedback, positive or otherwise - not that I would have left negative feedback. He has also banned me from buying from him in the future - his mea culpa ? I think so.
I got an email from Gary. He states that all the NRVs he has received are good ... EXCEPT for a missing chamfer on the lead thread (NOT LEAD the metal) that may roll over making the thread start incorrectly in the tube. Those he has seen, after fixing the chamfer of the thread, have been fine. He thinks they all come from the same manufacturer in India, so all sellers probably have the same issue. Ken in NC
This sounds like something that can be rectified by a few seconds attention with a needle file or whatever they're called. That may be an acceptable trade-off, given the low cost of these things. On the other hand, if the vendors specified slightly more highly from the manufacturers, then the issue could be rectified at source - or need never have arisen in the first place...
If anybody attempts to use these NRV's because of the leading edge thread, will instantly knacker the thread in the base plate on the pump tube. The heads of the NRV are not interchangeable, with any Primus or British stoves. The NRV's are cheap, but expensive to repair the damage. I suppose if it were a Chinese product, some folks here would be kicking up a right stink.
Indian, Chinese or anywhere in between isn't the issue as I see it. In the East they generally make items down to a price and the locals expect some fettling to do even when brand new. In the West, we expect things to work straight out of the box - thus the problem we see here...
No Ken, I have not verified this - to do so, would need good vision and dexterity - 2 things I haven't got. I repeat my comments again, "If anybody attempts to use these NRV's because of the leading edge thread, will instantly knacker the thread in the base plate on the pump tube."
