What was the old version of white gas? (in the US)

If that's true, and I doubt it, then whatever supply remains is still available. Two days ago, May 11, 2021, I was at Walmart in San Jose and saw ample Coleman fuel priced at $14 per gallon next to Crown stove/lantern fuel priced at about $9 per gallon. I picked up a gallon of the Crown stuff. That's the actual can right there.



I also picked up a set of four lantern mantles a few feet away on the same store shelf.

Again, I doubt that my sorry state of California has banned white gas stove fuel, although it is a sorry state: first decrease in population in recorded history, in 2020. Bums everywhere camped next to freeway lanes that are horridly potholed and strewn with trash. Ban on methanol. A ban on Coleman fuel will come soon, I predict. That warped set of priorities and much additional fun are what you get with a one-party (the local leftist party, in total control for the previous 13 years and forever into the future) regime. I digress.

Anyway, the stove in question is a 1962

Just run it on the store-shelf Coleman fuel or equivalent brand of camp fuel, at 2 or 3 times the price of pump gas (not a huge expenditure), and expect best possible fuel performance in the stove, and be done with it. Or, if such a product is truly difficult to find, run the stove on automotive fuel (petrol, pump gas) and expect to dismantle and clean out the generator, using wire and CF, a couple more times during several years of use than you would (maybe on one occasion) using CF.

Hey, just thought of something: maybe the regime, because they so like to see bums camping alongside California's state freeways, will continue to allow camp fuel to be sold in California. Even the insanity of an insane state possesses an internal logic.
