Which Optimus alcohol stove is this?

    Yes, but it will also get to the brass parts. I don’t know if Ospho has an undesirable effect on brass, but I would try it first on something you don’t care about.

    For now I am happy with the results I have from sanding. I plan on using this some, so perhaps using it will stop the rust from spreading.

    It won't, because you are adding 5% water with your 95% alcohol.

    Make sure to burn the stove out. Any time you light it, allow it to burn until dry, to extinguish itself. This will dry it as much as possible.

    Thank you @Scrambler for the additional tips. Thankfully, I always allow the burners to burn dry.

    Adding photos of stoves to the Gallery removes 50% of the chance of rust forming on a stove.
