i was surprised how well hand sanitizer primes - but the stuff i tried left a little bit of a gloppy mess willie
The hand sanitizer made a green mess on my stoves too. Didn't use it for stove priming after that, just used it in the winter to get the woodstove going.
No maintenance required Andrew, Old Spice will clean things out, like my nostrils were cleaned out every time I used it. Use it as an additive to your kero burner! LOL sam

Too often these posts turn into a shouting match that causes others to leave and a bitter taste is left in everyones mouth but also too often its a match that cant be won. Joining any forum and deriding a product that is generally well regarded on a forum for whatever reason is not a good way to introduce oneself. It may be you got a Friday afternoon model It may be you used it wrong. Its not always our job to judge that. Some of the replies have been a little on the nose but in someways even if not fully deserved they were created in the reading of the early posts in this thread. Normally at this point I would ask the major combatants to make up and shake hands but as that option has been soundly rejected by one party it will have to be kiss and make up instead. By the way what does it feel like to have a rattlesnake in your trousers? Whatever happens please can we get back to enjoying stoves
Hi Fellas, Do we use the same classification system that is used in Automobile circles? Classic - At least 25 years old. Vintage - 1948-1969 Antique - 1923-1945 Using this method, early MSR stoves clearly fit into the "classic" category. I just like stoves in general...but fire is right up there too! Cheers, Manny

i always went with the state DMV - antique plates were [usually] cheaper and only issued to vehicles 25 years or older - but you couldn't use the vehicle as a daily driver on_topic: i would have been somewhat in agreement if the title of the OP's post had been about the Optimus 88 willie
In response to what geeves stated in his post -- I agree with you -- these become shouting matches and a spectacle. The first time, I wrote a personal apology to DM and posted it on this forum to let bygones be bygones. BUT as you can see from DM's writings, he seems to have a personal agenda against me -- kind of like inciting people. When someone tries to misrepresent my reputation, especially my ebay reputation, I like to set the record straight. I may be slow, lazy and dumb but I am not dishonest. I am prsenting a couple of pics along with the 3 stoves --- the stoves are worth about $150, as seen in the pics. My Dad always wore Old Spice. He's dead now. Died from lung disease. He also smoked 60 a day since he first received cigarette rations in the Navy. But I reckon it was breathing in Old Spice that did for him.
I too used the Old Spice Aftershave for a short period. Great smell indeed. The college girls dig the smell then. After that...Jovan Musk was the IN-THING Did not know you could use old spice as a fuel source or was it just for priming?
