Happens to be an MSR brand and it’s a good one. Those made entirely of plastic work too. Essential accessory in my opinion for a canister-mounted stove - Soto Micro Regulator in the illustration. John
I'm happy with the generic plastic one I have, they're pretty cheap. Interesting that there are wire versions available now. A bit less bulk if you're into that sort of thing.
Hi John. I've looked at these MSR bases in the REI store and wondered about their possible use as a Svea 123 stabilizer. I think I saw or heard something to that effect once. Don't remember where. I have not been so premeditated as to bring my Svea down to the store for a check fit. You may have these elements within reach, possibly. If they do fit, it might make the stove more stable with a bigger pot.
Apologies @BradB but it does - sort of - fit. The black plastic slider/clamp is at its full extension and maximum internal spring compression admittedly. Black slider/clamp right up against the stop, compared to where it is with a 100 gramme gas cart. Not quite centralised either, though that doesn’t make it topple-prone. John

@SveaSizzler @presscall , it looks like there might be enough variation here to make it work, or not. Look closely at mine, the 123 fits against the first “post” at the same time as the second post. The spring loaded black tensioner has zero tension on mine and nothing stops it from tipping in at least one direction. It is more stable on the ground.
But does the 530 have a rim? I looked at one a couple years ago. Seemed like it was a clean, bluff-bottomed cylinder, with no rim to grab. I passed on one at $50 [local offer]. Nice device, but it did look tippy. I agree [if that's what you were thinking] that the Coleman 530 could used a stabilizer tripod, of all stoves. Maybe if you built a bottom cup out of brass, in the right diameter, with a pronounced rim so the MSR piece could grab, you might be in business. Or get lucky with a chili can of the right configuration... The 520 had the 3 folding legs. I guess, with Uncle Sugar no longer footing the bill, making the ''Pocket Stove'' for the civilian camping market, Post War, Coleman shaved some niceties to be cost effective. So no legs. When I first saw the 530, I asked the guy, if he'd had to dig a hole in the ground 4'' to stabilize it? He was surprized at the question. Then I flipped him my Svea 123, he caught it. and said ''So light!''
This has made me recall my old Brunton Remote Canister Stand. I then wondered if it would fit the MSR Reactor stove.
Evidently it does. Granted, the spring-loaded clamp doesn’t clip over the base rim ... ... but the spring loading is sufficient to hold it there when the stove is lifted. Orientating the pump over the spring clamp ensures that pump strokes don’t dislodge the fitting, as they otherwise might if the clamp were towards the other side of the base while pumping. The stand stows easily into the 530 canister too. Good idea Duck! @BradB I believe you’ve identified the issue of whether or not the stand clips onto a 123 as down to a manufacturing variation (tolerances) in the stands. The two stands I have both fit the 123 base but one clips on with more clearance in the spring-loaded clamp than the other. A simple solution would be to use a Dremel abrasive wheel to take just a little bit of material off one or both of the projections illustrated below or the ‘stop’ located between them. Very little material, since the impact on clearance would be magnified by the leverage factor. It wouldn’t compromise the geometry and function for gas canister use.
My personal solution to this issue is to abandon the tippy 123 windscreen/potholder. Sigg cookset only when using this stove. Brad
I saw a Sigg kit for 8 dollars yesterday. I left it for another to find and use. There was also an unused Bakepacker.

One sets it up with the center section level, set the 123 on it and press down. That locks the three legs to the rim of the 123. There is more than enough friction in the leg joins to keep it from falling off when the unit is lifted. To remove it one lifts the stove and presses the center of the stand, this releases the grip on the rim of the 123. Very easy to install and remove. This canister stand is stainless steel, and robustly made. Additionally it costs $4.81 each, less if more are purchased, as opposed to the MSR stand costing about $15.00. It does not have any polymer parts or springs to fail at inopportune moments.
I bought a Primus stand on Amazon for under 10 bux. I actually bought 7 different stands, including the msr one. The green primus one fit the bill best. I DID take a dremel with a grinding wheel and mod the stand a tad to get the bottom lip to fit tighter. Works great! The MSR one flexed too much for me. As with the MSR stand, the primus fits in the stove very well and you can store the whole thing in the canister.
