A friend of mine, Deon, found this little one at a flea market yesterday. His post is here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/wick-mantle/gallery/6rlAYVXrZb8
The funny thing is that this one came with two sets of pot stands; a taller and a shorter set. Both sets look the same age and style.
Hi, I reckon this Coleman Sol-Jun 533 was made by the British Company Falk Stadelmann : https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/what-the-falk.22076/ https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/coleman-sol-jun-stove-no-533e.17356/ https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/falks-compact-picnic-camper-set.12280/ Best Regards, Kerophile.
That's like seeing a Corvette with a Ford hood ornament on it. Thanks for sharing that, never saw one. Jerry
Hi @phaedrus42 One possible reason for a stove having two sets of legs, of different lengths, is that the stove offered a choice of either roarer or silent burner operation. Silent burners can sit slightly higher than an equivalent power roarer burner, when fitted on the same riser tube. A longer set of legs allows for optimum positioning of the pan above the silent burner. Here is an example of a small British stove which offered a choice of burner type: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/zora-brand-burner-stove.11308/ Best Regards, Kerophile.
@kerophile , yes the thought did cross my mind. Was there a lipstick silent burner? According to Deon, there is no space in the box for another burner; not even space for an alcohol bottle.
Hi, the original silent damper made By Primus for their No.96 stove: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/primus-96-silent-burner.11807/#post-112617 The later version made by BD: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/no-96-silent-damper-scottish-trials.11595/ Finally a silent damper advertised as suitable for the lipstick vaporiser burner on the larger No.100 stove: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRIMUS-S...-SERVICE-KIT/113001553935?hash=item1a4f6ae00f Best Regards, Kerophile.
The instructions only mention the 3 steel supports. Maybe he vaporizer tube on your stove has been replaced, necessitating longer legs.
@phaedrus42 This illustration is from the early 1950s catalogue of Coleman-Thomas (Melbourne, Australia): Cheers Tony
