Proving to myself as much as anything that the technique could work consistently, I had cause to re-jet two '96' stove vapouriser tubes in the one fettling session. One was nmp's Fire don't panic! The other was mine, from a Primus 96 Sport outfit Line-up, left to right, Optimus 96 vapouriser in good condition, nmp's vapouriser, Primus 96 Sport vapouriser The problem. That's a 0.32 millimetre pricker in the photos. All three would take a 0.23 millimetre pricker, correct for a 96 vapouriser, but only the Optimus one wouldn't take a 0.32mm one, which was a particularly loose fit in nmp's vapouriser For the two defective vapourisers, first step was to make the jet holes even larger ... ... to fit these brass inserts ... ... prepared as featured in this previous fettling topic Easy 'drilling' of 0.23mm holes One of the inserts in position just prior to brazing Brazed and cleaned up. First one ... ... and then the second Test firing, the vapouriser from the Sport outfit re-united with its stove, nmp's vapouriser tried out on a late-model Primus 96 Success! John

Hi John brilliant work and proof that this systeem will work consistently, and that no burner is not repairable no matter how enlarged the jet orafice has become,and i wonder how many of these burners in the past that could have been saved useing this method of repair. Another point even the smallest off cut of material is worth saving for example the use of the brass inserts. When ever i come across a burner tha has a enlarged jet orafice that can not be peened to the right size,i will put this systeem of repair into use well done there John
John, on the clean up portion after brazing, did you sand or file it down? Would like to know so in future I could do the same. Ron
Single-cut file Ron. If the brazing's a bit puddled (blobs) I take a Dremel sanding drum to it just to attack the high spots, then back to the file. Finishing's on a buffing wheel. John
