Hi @Doc Mark in his description of the Primus stove produced under license, Al Gentry says that the tank is marked: No.4138S This is a Primus burner No. identifying a silent burner suitable for a 1.75 or 2 pint capacity stove. “Primus made several versions of their classic 1.75 pint, paraffin fuelled, No.100 stove, and in the 1971 Primus catalogue there are three versions offered; The 100/4128 fitted with a roarer burner, The 100/4138 fitted with a silent burner, and the 100/4043, which had the original "lipstick" vapouriser with a choice of either roarer or "damper" silent burner. Hi @Lennart F My mistake. It is the burner which is marked: “ * PRIMUS * SWEDEN * No 4138 S * LICENSE*” Interesting in that it appears that the Licencee is making burners. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Morning, All, @kerophile , thanks for your comments on the orphan Primus that I got from Al. I still lean towards South Africa as the place of manufacture, but after reading some of the info posted by @Staffan Rönn , South America may well be where this old Primus was actually made. In our time in Peru, we saw a cobbled together stove setup, and later have learned that such stoves are commonplace down there. I know we have members from Uruguay, too, and they have posted stoves from down that way. All in all, it's an interesting thought that Al's old Primus, made under license, may have been made in Peru, or Uruguay. I'll try to get this stove out again, when I can clean up the Hobbit Hole a bit, and take better photos of it here. Though they can sometimes be frustrating, I love these old "mystery stoves"!!
