SRV seals

Hi Folks,
A question about SRV pips. What do you guys use? I have an old Optimus 8r that has perished seals in the fuel tank. I got a new lid ring from Base Camp but the SRV pip is the wrong size. I am tempted to just cut one from some old Kilner jar seals, which are rubber and about the right thickness. Looks like an easy enough fix, but I have concerns about the rubber not being the right kind.
Would this work in your opinion?

You need the rubber to be resistant to the fuel. Viton is best and can be bought online in sheets.

 

Is it the original fuel cap?
If it is a little bit smaller it can still work,
Can we see bolt of them?
Viton seal is what you need.

 

viton rubber is the best. Do contact or sponsor The Fettle Box (you can find there link on the right side of this page), they are in the UK and sell just what you need.

 

I think they use 4mm instead of 4.5mm.

The size depends on the stove.
I make some that are 5mm.
I use Viton sheets and punch them out.

Looks like Viton is the way to go. I'll get a sheet of it and use the pip cup imprint to size the mould for the seal.

@kerophile I finally saw a pen cartridge and cleaned and cut it for making the 5 mm pips.
