posting as documentation . This is the stove as found . Non-original «Ginge» made medal-winning outer cap The burner is unmarked though the spirit cup is marked «Svea» The stove is lacking its base tray . I removed the superficial rust and repainted the frame . I noted that the frames were originally silver coloured after consulting this outstanding post On the trail of a SVEA series Otherwise the burner was decoked and cleaned . The tank was stained with a tarry substance which took a while to remove . Changed the pump leather noting the unusual arrangement for securing the leather on the piston . New filler cap seal . Stove fired up without any problem . Green flame as it burned of a little brass dust from cleaning . Blue flame and it passed the «brew-test» with flying colours . Slight leak from NRV which I will remedy forthwith
Thank you, @A A C. Can you post a photo of what you call the “unusual arrangement for securing the leather on the piston”, please? Cheers Tony
@Tony Press I didnt take a picture of it but it is identical to the pictures posted here https://classiccampstoves.com/members/thumper.5520/ There is a thin brass tube that you bend and press to secure the pump leather between the washers which are threaded onto the rod then secured by a nut as is standard. On my stove the brass was old and brittle and broke off so I replaced it with conventional threaded washers . I have kept the original bits
@Tony Press Sorry I screwed up the link . Thumper’s stove is one of the other examples in this section of the gallery. It is a poor solution I don’t understand why they did it . Can’t have saved much money .
