SotM (Stove of the Month) December 2019

An open theme this month - any model, any brand, any age, any fuel. No more than 2 burners though.

And finally - needs to be a fresh SotM entry for 2019 ie not entered by yourself previously.

The last opportunity to enter for a chance to be in entered in the 2019 Stove of the Year competition in January 2020.

The rules.

• Stove must feature in the Stove Reference Gallery (SRG) with a link posted in the entry. So now's the time to get those stoves photographed & posted! If it's been listed for years already that is ok too.
• Maximum of 2 pictures in the entry. The pictures must show the stove working & in it's entirety. More pictures can of course be shown in the linked SRG entry - as many as you want!
• Stove must be presently owned by the member.
• One entry per member.

This nominations post will be open for the month of December. At the end of the month the post will be closed & the qualifying stoves placed in a blind poll for members to vote for. The poll will remain open for 1 week. Most votes is the winner.

The winner will get a SotM Winner notation on their posts & profile & a £10 voucher code from The Fettlebox

Today, I decided to share one of my favorite little Meths stoves: My CJ Hauck and Son, patented April 16, 1872. Many of you have seen this little guy before, and may remember him. To me, once fettled, his flame pattern is absolutely beautiful, and hypnotizing!! Here are two shots of him, for those who have not seen him before:



I owned this Little Fellow for many years before realizing just how good he really is!! It wasn't until I finally decided to fettle him, that he showed his true colors, in every sense of the word!! He came to me, packed into his own little tin, lead soldered pot, with a simmering attachment, which I always thought was a "candle", until that, too, was fettled! Here's how he looks, all packed up, and ready for the trail.

Another gasoline-fuelled small stove/ laboratory heater, A British SH &S Lamb from the 1930s:




Shown above with a bunsen burner fitted. The tank is only 3.25in. ( 83mm) diameter, and the overall height of the stove is about 4.75in. (120mm).



And in this photograph, with a conical burner with flame-plate, housed in a British Army No.7 stove case.

Next November I think I will pair it up with my 1944 Lee Enfield No. 4 mk1* on a day hunt.

 

I've been meaning to get involved in this SOTM since it's inception. Already December now, how can that possibly be? lol

Looks up. YIKES! Some heavy hitters here...oh well...

So I guess I'd better throw something into the ring. Decided to go with my rock solid EVINRUDE/HERCULES Safety Stovette Model 1. It has been residing in my shop for about the last year now and handles the daily/weekly depending on whenever I venture out there tea/coffee/hot chocolate duties. Very sturdy simple design that always lights up after a preheat and has exceptional control from a low simmer to full on inferno. In the reference gallery here....

The flame shot is really kind of dismal, but it burns better now, Duane gave it a peen!





I guess I need to take some better photos of this one...

 

Here is my Burmos, the others are so good I was nearly not going to put something in and scratched my head as what to do , so put this in.

An 1892 or earlier "Primus". The very first model F.W. Lindqvist made and sold, and quite possibly even made by him personally since he was involved in the actual making himself at this earliest stage.
